In this your Wednesday edition of Trucker Tools’ “Where’s the Freight?,” you’ll gain an advantage over your competitors with insights into which markets are likely to be hot and cold over the next five to seven day period. According to the most recent data from Trucker Tools’ software platforms, flatbed and reefer remain red hot, which is why you’ll see that reefer and flatbed dominate today’s top five hottest markets list. This isn’t a huge surprise as produce season has at last begun and a rebounding industrial/manufacturing sector has been elevating demand for flatbed capacity for several months now. In the coming week, you also can expect power only demand to surge across two key Southern U.S. markets and for reefer demand and rates to remain high in and out of Tucson, Ariz.

Scroll down to find out what other markets will be favorable and unfavorable for truckers and carriers over the next week.

Hot Markets for Truckers

  • Texarkana, Texas, Southwestern Ontario, St. Louis and Medford, Ore., are likely to be the best flatbed markets for truckers and carriers over the next five to seven days. Demand for flatbed capacity is expected to increase in the coming week for Lexington, Ky., and Rapid City, S.D.
  • Once again, Tucson, Ariz., is projected to be the best reefer market in North America for truckers and carriers this week.
  • Expect demand for power only to increase over the next week for Jacksonville, Fla., Buffalo, N.Y., and El Paso, Texas.

Cold Markets for Truckers

  • Vancouver, British Columbia, and Montreal, Quebec, will be the two coldest flatbed markets in North America this week. Expect demand for flatbed in and out of Portland, Maine, to decline this week, as well.
  • Hartford, Conn., and Pittsburgh will be the least profitable reefer markets in the country in the coming week for truckers and carriers.
  • Demand for power only capacity will be decreasing this week for Milwaukee and Reno, Nev.
  • Expect demand for dry van to be low this week for Dodge City, Kan.
