Our newest ELD integration partnership is with Samsara, a technology company focused on helping businesses use IoT data to improve and optimize their operations. The integration between the Samsara ELD and Trucker Tools lets drivers use their Samsara ELDs to track loads instead of using the Trucker Tools app for load tracking. This additional option allows drivers to use their preferred technology, while providing freight brokers with the load tracking they need to satisfy their shippers.
About Samsara ELD
Samsara’s ELD compliance solution provides fleet managers and drivers with HOS and records of duty status, sensor data, DVIRs, doc capture and built-in wi-fi hotspots that eliminate the need for cellular data plans. This app-based ELD doesn’t require the purchase of proprietary e-logging hardware. Instead, Samsara’s vehicle gateway correlates vehicle usage with driver logs and captures real-time location, engine and sensor data.
Drivers use the Samsara Driver App to set duty status and also review and certify their HOS logs with the app. When starting for the day, all drivers need to do is to set “On Duty” status in the app. Once the truck starts moving, the app automatically changes status to “Driving” and to “On Duty” when the truck stops moving. Built-in log transfers simplify DOT inspections and real-time alerts help increase compliance.
Through the Samsara dashboard, fleet managers can review HOS reports and which drivers are nearing or are in violation of HOS rules. The user-friendly dashboard makes it easy to track unassigned driving time and suggest log edits to keep logs accurate. This integration partnership makes it possible for you to see the real-time progress of the truck in the Smart Capacity interface when a driver tracks with a Samsara ELD, just as you do when a load is tracked with Trucker Tools’ app. With ELD-based load tracking, you’re still able to provide accurate ETAs to your shippers and address delays as they occur in real-time.
